Peasant Festival

The Peasant Festival, each year starting from August 2007, on the night of the shooting stars of San Lorenzo (Saint Lawrence, August 10), is an event of the food and wine local tradition that animates the streets of the ancient village with numerous players:

  • the peasant dishes of Rivalto - cooked with passion by the skilled local cooks: tomato soup (the tuscan "pappa al pomodoro"), soup of spealt, cabbage soup (the tuscan "zuppa di cavolo"), grilled sausages, pasta with wildboar sauce, tripe (the italian "trippa"), omelets, pancakes of wheat flour (the tuscan "migliecci"), sweet waffles with cream (the tuscan "nozze" that translated in italian means "wedding") and other typical sweets
  • the genuine local red wine - to accompany the culinary delights
  • popular music and dances - to liven up the evening
  • the decorations and ornaments - the ancient village is enriched with embroideries, laces, work tools, objects and proverbs of the country tradition
  • the starry sky - explored with the expert guidance of the Associazione Astrofili Alta Valdera
  • the precious "lilleri" - money for a night, needed to "lallerare" because, as the tuscan proverb says "senza lilleri, 'un si lallera" (without money, no fun)

Sometimes present at the festival a photo exhibition housed in the premises of La Canonica in Piazza della Compagnia

Many guests who come, intrigued and fascinated by the portrait of the village of Rivalto in feast under the stars. A convivial event to sample food and drink, in the characteristic atmosphere of the glimpses of Rivalto.

The central places where the events are held are Piazza Beato Giordano, Piazza della Compagnia and the area of the ex Acli club

The organization of the event is managed by the Associazione Amici di Rivalto (Association Friends of Rivalto) with the contribution of local associations -Misericordia of Chianni, Wild Boar Festival in Chianni and other- and sponsored by the Town of Chianni.
